Abhyanga Warm Oil Massage

Overview:
Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic full-body massage that uses warm, herb-infused oils to nourish the skin, calm the nervous system, and promote overall well-being. The word Abhyanga comes from Sanskrit, meaning “to anoint” or “to oil the body.”

Benefits:

  • Deeply moisturizes and softens the skin
  • Improves circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Relieves muscle tension and joint stiffness
  • Promotes relaxation and better sleep
  • Balances the body’s doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha)

Typical Process:

  1. Oil Selection: The therapist chooses an Ayurvedic oil blend suited to your body type or current condition (e.g., sesame oil for Vata, coconut oil for Pitta, mustard oil for Kapha).
  2. Warming the Oil: The oil is gently heated to a soothing temperature.
  3. Application: Long, rhythmic strokes are applied along the limbs, with circular motions on joints and the abdomen.
  4. Focus Areas: The scalp, ears, and feet are often included for a complete balancing effect.
  5. Rest Period: After the massage, clients typically rest for a few minutes to allow the oil to penetrate deeply before showering or wiping off excess oil.

Ideal For:

  • Stress relief and grounding
  • Dry or rough skin
  • Fatigue or insomnia
  • Seasonal transitions

Duration:
Usually 60–90 minutes, depending on the client’s needs and the practitioner’s approach.
